About Robert

Rob lives in Harlow, and was elected Member of Parliament in 2010.

Rob works hard in the community: holding regular MPs Advice Surgeries to help residents. He also volunteers to help Harlow charities every year.

At a national level, Rob campaigns to help people on issues such as petrol and diesel prices, apprenticeships, jobs, and literacy.

Please see his regular blog, his Twitter, or his Facebook page, for Rob's latest news. In Westminster, Rob has been elected to the 1922 Committee of Backbench Conservative MPs. He is also a member of the Prospect Trade Union.

Away from work, Rob is a huge curry fan - Harlow and the villages have plenty of great curry houses. He reads loads of books and adores the countryside. He enjoys travel too, and was privileged to go to Rwanda to teach English on a special project called Umubano (fellowship) - a moving and wonderful experience.

While he was brought up down the road in North London, his relative owned John Walton Clothes Shop that was in Harlow Town Centre for many years, and opened by Arthur Askey in the 1950s.

Living in Harlow and like so many local residents, Rob loves football and goes to Harlow Town F.C. occasionally, although he is a staunch Chelsea supporter. He is proud that it was Harlow boy Glen Hoddle that not only did so much for Spurs, but was the man who began to turn Chelsea into a top club.

Rob also loves watches and has a huge collection. He is a regular at the Eversden family watch shop in the Harvey Centre!
