Cherishing our villages and environment

We are lucky to have such beautiful villages in our community and I cherish them. That includes protecting our environment so we leave our community in a better place for future generations.

Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution

I voted to ensure we were the first country in the world to legislate to go carbon neutral by 2050. That is now supported by the Prime Minister’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution. The plan will create hundreds of jobs and allow the UK to forge ahead with eradicating its contribution to climate change by 2050.

Ending unauthorised encampments

Too many times our community has been blighted by unauthorised encampments. I have worked hard to strengthen the police’s power to deal with these and to ensure Harlow has an injunction against these encampments.

However, Harlow’s Labour Council allowed the injunction to lapse meaning our community is not currently protected. I am working to resolve this and ensure that never again can Harlow be blighted unauthorised encampments.

Stopping horse tethering

Too many horses are tethered on roadsides and green wedges in our community. I have raised this in Parliament on a number of occasions and lobbied the Government to make legislative changes to outlaw this.

Clamping down on speeding

Speeding remains a real issue in our villages. I have worked with local councillors, Essex Highways and Essex Police to introduce community speed watch schemes and will continue to work hard to clamp down on speeding.
