 The Apprenticeship Levy: Unlocking Potential in Schools and Colleges

- Introduced in 2017

- Requires employers with annual pay bill over £3 million to contribute 0.5% towards apprenticeship training

- £180 million paid annually by schools

- Less than 22% of levy funds utilized by schools

 

  1. Contribution: Employers with annual pay bill over £3 million contribute 0.5% to the levy

  2. Digital Account: Funds are deposited into the employer's apprenticeship service account

  3. Government Top-up: 10% government top-up on deposited funds

  4. Expiration: Funds expire after 24 months if unused

  5. Usage: Can be used to pay for apprenticeship training and assessment

  6. Transfers: Up to 50% of funds can be transferred to other employers

  7. £1000 to employers - under 25

  8. Functional Skills
